Land Acknowledgment

Integrative Medicine located in Portland, OR

The Portland Metro area rests on traditional village sites of the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and many other tribes who created communities and summer encampments in this region.

We would like to offer a land acknowledgement as an expression of gratitude and appreciation to the generations of Indigenous caretakers who have stewarded and sustained the land on which we currently live and work. We acknowledge that our clinic location is part of the ancestral homeland of Indigenous peoples who have cared for, stewarded, and maintained deep connections to this region for the past 11,000 years. We honor the original inhabitants of these lands and recognize the enduring presence, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous communities today.
We recognize that Indigenous peoples continue to live, work, and thrive in Portland and surrounding neighborhoods, and that their histories and perspectives remain an essential part of our shared community. We respectfully acknowledge and honor all Indigenous communities—past, present, future—and are grateful for their ongoing contributions to the wellness of our Portland community. We also acknowledge the lasting impacts of colonization, including displacement, forced assimilation, and other systemic injustices that continue to affect Indigenous individuals, families, and communities. As settlers and guests on this land, recognizing this history is an important step toward understanding our collective responsibility in the present.

This land acknowledgment is not only a reflection on the past but also a recognition that Indigenous peoples remain an integral and vibrant part of our communities today and into the future. As a clinic, our providers and staff are committed to listening, learning, and supporting Indigenous voices, knowledge, and leadership.
